What Does “Savior of the World” Mean?

September 23, 2025 by Bob Wilkin in Blog - “Savior of the World”, 1 John 4:14, Election, John 4:42, kosmos, Savior
Jesus is the Savior of the world according to John 4:42 and 1 John 4:14.   According to Calvinists, the word kosmos in those verses refers to the world of the elect. In other words, He is the Savior of 100% of those whom He elected to salvation and 0% of the non-elect.   But the word

“Savior of the World”, 1 John 2:2, 1 Tim 4:10, John 1:29, John 3:16, John 4:42
When the Samaritans called Jesus the "Savior of the World" in John 4:42, did that mean that everyone gets saved? Jesus has taken care of the sin problem at Calvary. Belief is still required. Listen to Bob and Shawn's excellent discussion on this question.

August 14, 2020 by Bob Wilkin in Blog - 1 John 2:2, John 1:29, John 4:42, unlimited atonement
This short question hits on a mighty important issue: Thank you for your ministry. I have a question: when the Bible says that Jesus died for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2), does that mean that Jesus died for everyone’s sin? Or does it mean that you need to believe that Jesus died
