Is Belief in the Pre-Trib Rapture the Same as Belief in Jesus for Everlasting Life?

MG asks,

I was studying 1 Thess 4:13-14, and it reads that believing in Jesus’ death and resurrection is all that’s required to be raised out of the grave.  However, the Scriptures are clear that believing in Jesus for eternal life is the correct condition (John 3:16, John 5:24, etc.).  Is it correct to say that Paul is talking about what occurs in John 11:25-27? Is believing that Jesus will resurrect you to be with him forever another way of saying eternal security?

Yes and yes.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is essentially another way of affirming the truth of John 11:25-27. Paul wrote, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus” (1 Thess 4:14). His point is that our belief in His death and resurrection affirms the truth of the pre-Trib rapture. While it is possible to believe the former and not the latter, that is an illogical position. John 11:25 is the promise of resurrection: “He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” That is Jesus’ explanation of the truth, “I am the resurrection…” Since He rose, He raises all who believe in Him. That occurs at the Rapture, though that is not clear from John 11:25-27.

If I am sure that I will be raised to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus (“And thus we shall always be with the Lord,” 1 Thess 4:17), then I am sure that I am eternally secure.

Rapture truth is eternal security truth.
