Saturday, July 15, I flew into Tampa, FL, arriving at 3 PM. After checking into my hotel, which is near Bayshore Boulevard and the Bay, I walked the quarter mile down to the Bay and then walked a few miles along the waterfront. It was a great walk. What a beautiful place this is.
Arriving back at my hotel—did I say it is called The Epicurean?—I had time for a quick shower and then I was off with Bob and Karen and Buzzy and Patsy to a fine restaurant called Seasons 52. It offers a different menu almost every week, hence the name. The pork tenderloin was great. I don’t enjoy eating. I eat to live, not the other way around. But this time I liked the food a lot.
On Sunday I spoke twice, covering 2 Peter 3:1-9 in the first service (“His Promised Return Is Certain”) and the rest of the chapter, 2 Peter 3:10-18, in the second service (“What Manner of People Should We Be?”). You can listen to both messages by clicking here.
After church I went with Mike and Helen to a super burger place. I enjoyed that food too!
The only drawback on the trip was a near three hour flight delay. But I still got home before 9PM.
I’ve had some adventures on trips too. Not everyplace has been as nice as Tampa and The Epicurean and Seasons 52. But I’ve found that preaching God’s Word is fulfilling in any context.
My thanks to all the GES partners for making it possible for me to write, edit, and speak. I love what I do. I hope I can continue to do this for many years to come.
