An article by John Nolte on Breitbart caught my attention: Jesus Revolution Grosses More Than 4 Oscar Nominees Combined. See here.

Nolte cites these movie profits from U.S. theaters:

The Banshees of Inisherin– $5 million

The Fabelmans– $2 million

Tár– $7 million

Triangle of Sadness– $5 million

Women Talking– $9 million

Jesus Revolution has already grossed $30.5 million in just two weeks. The other movies have been out for a long time and are nearing the end of their theater runs.

Before it is over, Jesus Revolution should do better than the five movies nominated for Best Picture combined.

Now for a disclaimer. I haven’t seen it. Yet. Walt and Rosy Millet told Sharon and me we must see it. We plan to do so.

I came to faith in Christ for everlasting life in September of 1972, near the end of the Jesus revolution. I became one of the Jesus People or Jesus Freaks. I was a student at UC Irvine in Orange County, California. UCI is just a few miles from Calvary Chapel.

Within weeks of coming to faith, I went to Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa on Saturday nights and heard the Maranatha bands (like Love Song) perform and Chuck Smith speak. There were about 4,000 high school and college-age kids in a vast tent.

I don’t think the movie will give a clear message on the promise of everlasting life that can never be lost. Maybe I’ll write another blog on that after I see it.

What I love about this is that it is a family-friendly movie that outperforms all the supposed Best Pictures. Why isn’t this movie in the running for Best Picture?

Nolte asks this telling question: “If Hollywood is profit-oriented, why does the industry continue to produce movies no one wants to see?” The reason is apparent. Sharing the woke worldview is vitally crucial to Hollywood. They want profits and the woke message.

I don’t know, but I bet this movie did not have enough diversity in terms of the cast. Were there enough homosexual actors? Transgender? African American and Hispanic? Why is an old white cisgender male (Kelsey Grammar) playing Pastor Chuck Smith?

Nolte adds, “Hollywood will never seek to entertain and draw normal American Christians into theaters, at least not anymore […] Hollywood hates normal people more than they love money…And let me tell you…That’s a lot of hate.”
