Is Believing in Jesus Enough to Be Saved?
Believe, believing, demons, Devils, Jas 2:14-19, John 1:12, Luke 8:12, Receiving, Rev 3:20
Welcome to Grace in Focus radio. Today, Bob Wilkin and Leon Adkins are answering a question about how to deal with the proposition some make that to be saved, “believing is not enough.” They may say it is not enough because “the devils also believe” (as in James 2:19). They may attempt to support this view with other sayings as well, but what are the problems with this view? Please listen for some Biblical clarity about this.

Is Believing Jesus Has the Power to Save Us the Same as Believing in Him For Everlasting Life?
belief, believing, Cyrus, Darius, Gentiles, John 11:25-27, John 4:10, Old Testament Kings, Saved
Welcome to Grace in Focus radio! Today, Bob Wilkin and Ken Yates are answering a question about the saving message and about saving faith. What is the difference between "believing in" and "believing for"? Is the gift of eternal salvation given on the basis of the belief about Christ’s power or the belief about the Father’s promise? Please listen to this episode for clarity!

Is “Sola Fide” Inconceivable?

September 23, 2021 by Shawn Lazar in Blog - believing, Faith, sola fide
Telling people that salvation is by faith in Jesus apart from works won’t mean much if he or she doesn’t know what believing means. I asked a group dedicated to “Provisionalism”—which aims to defend traditionalist Baptist beliefs against Calvinism—what it means to believe. Not everyone in the group is a Provisionalist. But it is disconcerting

Is Salvation by Faith + Desire?

April 16, 2021 by Shawn Lazar in Blog - belief, believing, Desire, Faith, Salvation
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to deny or to confuse the message of faith alone in Christ alone for everlasting life that cannot be lost. I recently heard a new one. Someone who identifies as Free Grace recently told me this (I am paraphrasing): You can believe that John 3:16 is true

J. Vernon McGee on Repentance and Salvation

November 18, 2020 by Shawn Lazar in Blog - back-loaded gospel, believing, Faith, J. Vernon McGee, Repentance, Salvation
Even the most gifted Bible teachers can sometimes preach a confusing saving message. For example, I’m sure most readers of this blog are familiar with Dr. J. Vernon McGee’s Thru the Bible commentary. I’ve been reading through his comments on Luke’s Gospel and found his remarks on Luke 3:8 to be confusing. “John’s message was

The Toboggan-Rider, the To-Canada-Flyer, and the Snow-Vacationer

June 27, 2018 by Shawn Lazar in Blog - believing, Faith, saving faith
For the last year, I’ve been promising to take my kids to Canada. They want to see the snow. They saw some snow once—two years ago. A light sprinkling that quickly melted. But they want to see the real thing—the kind I grew up with. Two, three, four feet of it. Snow drifts so high
