Trusting God’s Provision (Exodus 16:4)

April 21, 2020 by Shawn Lazar in Blog - Israel, provision, Trust

When Israel followed Moses through the wilderness, God provided manna for them to eat. There God had said,

“Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction” (Exod 16:4, emphasis added).

Israel’s lack of provision was no hindrance to God because the Lord Himself became their provision.

But would Israel trust Him to provide it?

That’s why God said the manna was a test. He gave Israel enough for each day. They were commanded to gather only as much as they could eat and no more; no saving or storing allowed. Why not? It wasn’t because God’s provisions were limited, but because Israel’s faith in His provisions was limited. They needed to learn to trust God for their daily bread.

Do you?

Will you?
