Literature Lair

by Bob Wilkin

I became a Christian after having spent years in a works-salvation cult. We Left Jehovah's Witnesses by Edmond C. Gruss (Phillipsburg, NJ: Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Co., 1974) is a book that reminds me of my experience although that was not the particular cult I had been in. A heavy feeling set in my chest as I read about various people's experiences while in the cult. I once knew well the bondage about which they wrote. I, too, could share their joy in learning of and accepting God's grace. The book is actually a series of testimonies. Some are clear on the gospel of grace. Some are not. In any case, this book is well worth reading.
